June Newsletter: MTD Updates and Office News

Hello and welcome to the latest newsletter from PA Bookkeeping.

We have been busy working behind the scenes this past month on a number of different things, and we are now approaching our first Making Tax Digital filings. This opens new doors for us as a company.

We have also been busy looking after every client’s accountancy needs, payroll and much more. As we approach the deadline for the first quarter of Making Tax Digital filings on 6 July, we would like to remind you that from 7 July we will need any paperwork, sales invoices and purchase invoices sent to us. We have only a small window to get your first quarter filed.

We will be sending email correspondence, so please keep an eye out for this. This first quarterly filing is the start of your overview of how your business is performing. As we move through the first of five filings for the tax year, we will be able to give you profit insights and further guidance towards potential tax bills.

As always, if you have any questions, we are more than happy to have a chat and answer them to the best of our abilities.

What we need

Quarterly filing requirements

Under Making Tax Digital, eligible taxpayers will be required to submit quarterly updates to HMRC rather than relying solely on an annual tax return. The first reporting periods are approaching quickly, with the first quarterly submissions becoming due shortly after the end of this month.

To ensure we can prepare and submit your information accurately and on time, we need all relevant paperwork, records, invoices, receipts and financial information as soon as possible.

What we need from you

  • Sales invoices and income records
  • Purchase invoices and expense receipts
  • Bank statements
  • Details of any business-related purchases
  • Any other relevant financial documentation

The earlier we receive your information, the more time we have to review, reconcile and prepare your submissions accurately.

Payment on account

Payment on account is often misunderstood. It is an advance payment system used by HMRC to collect tax in stages throughout the year. Instead of paying your entire Self Assessment tax bill at once, you make two equal instalments. The system helps self-employed workers pay tax closer to when they earn their income.

In practice, this means you pay in advance for the next tax year based on your previous year. The deadline for any outstanding payments for the 2025–2026 tax year is 31 July.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We can also help and assist with these payments; if you need this service, please email us.

New faces in the office

As some of you may be aware, we are a growing business and with that comes new changes and faces in the office. We have recently welcomed two new members of staff in administration roles, helping us create a smoother operation for both us and you.

Bridget

Bridget has been with us for a little while now and will be a point of contact for administration needs. You may already have spoken to her, as she is in charge of client management and helps make sure we are all up to date with identification and regulations. She may chase you for paperwork and other information, so please try to work with her as best you can.

Danielle

Our second new face is Danielle, who has joined us with some amazing previous work history. She will be another point of contact for data entry and administration duties when Bridget is not in the office. She will also be meeting and greeting you all in the office.

Danielle has a fantastic background in administration across various roles with the NHS, and she is looking forward to getting to know you all.

Another move for us

In just 31 days, we are moving offices again due to continued expansion and growth. Since we moved to our current office space on the business park, we have continued to grow and expand, with new clients signing up every week.

We have decided to use an office space that became available here on the business park, so we are not going very far. We will be in our own dedicated building: 28A will be the new home for PA Bookkeeping.

Without your continued support, this would not be possible, so thank you to each and every one of you. Your support means more than you know. As always, we will see you soon — and if you need us, just email us.
